The rarity hierarchy
Every item climbs the same ladder. Each step gates the next.
No stats. The raw base. You upgrade it with a currency.
1 prefix + 1 suffix. Cheap. Often used as a stepping stone.
Up to 3 prefixes + 3 suffixes. The main target for builds.
Final stage. Locks the item: no more crafting. May add or remove power.
The basic path: Trans → Aug → Regal → Exalt
1Orb of Transmutation: White → Magic. Adds 1 random stat.
2Orb of Augmentation: Adds a 2nd stat to a Magic item. Only if a slot is open.
3Regal Orb: Magic → Rare. Keeps the 2 stats, adds a 3rd random one.
4Exalted Orb: Adds a new random stat to a Rare item with an open slot.
5Repeat Exalt × 3: Fill the item up to 6 stats. Or stop earlier to keep it usable.
3 essences worth knowing
Essences upgrade a Magic item to Rare with one guaranteed stat (Lesser / Normal / Greater). Best when you need a specific stat without gambling. In 0.5 an item can hold only one essence (crafted) modifier, so you no longer stack three or four essences on one piece.
Every build wants life. Safe pick on any slot.
Caster staple. Solves mana issues early.
Helps melee / attack builds hit consistently.

5 essential omens
An omen is a single-use booster. Activate one, then your next currency orb behaves differently. Used once, it's gone.
- ◆Omen of Sinistral Exaltation: Forces the next Exalt to add a prefix.
- ◆Omen of Dextral Exaltation: Forces the next Exalt to add a suffix.
- ◆Omen of Sinistral / Dextral Crystallisation: Forces a Perfect Essence swap onto a prefix / suffix.
- ◆Omen of Whittling: The next Chaos Orb removes the WEAKEST stat. Almost always what you want.
- ◆Omen of Sinistral / Dextral Annulment: Forces the next Annul to remove a prefix / suffix.

3 things people miss
- Apply Quality LATE
Quality currencies (Armourer's Scrap, Whetstone, etc.) cap at 20%. Don't waste them on test items.
- Mind the Item Level (iLvl)
iLvl gates the strength of stats an item can roll. Aim for iLvl 81+ (drops from T15+ maps) before serious crafting.
- Fracturing locks a stat forever
A fractured stat can never be removed or rerolled. Useful when you roll a perfect T1 mod you want to keep through future crafts.
