Ritual: Tribute, Omens & the Rite

Ritual is the best unique-and-Omen hunt in 0.5 and the universal juicing amplifier: its altars revive the monsters around them, so it turns any dense pack into extra Tribute. This is the full mechanic, the Omen economy, the boss chain, and the Atlas subtree. All node and tablet text is poe2db-confirmed.

How Ritual works

A Ritual Altar absorbs the monsters you kill inside its circle. Once enough have died, activate it: the slain monsters are resurrected and you fight them again. Killing the revived monsters earns Tribute, which you spend on Favours (the reward items). You can reroll the Favour list (costs Tribute) or defer a Favour (pay part now, it reappears later). Tribute does not carry across maps.

The snowball
Each successive Ritual in an area also revives the monsters from the previous Rituals, on top of the new ones you sacrifice. By the last altar you fight an imposing horde but bank a huge pile of Tribute. This is exactly why Ritual pairs with any density mechanic: more monsters near the altar = more Tribute.

At endgame the reward screen shows only Uniques and Omens. Locusts point you to the next altar after each one.

The Omen economy (the money)

Omens are meta-crafting items: they change how your next currency orb behaves. They hold value all league because every crafter needs them. The high-value ones from Ritual:

  • : next removes the lowest-level modifier.
  • : next Chaos Orb removes only prefixes / only suffixes.
  • and Greater Annulment (remove two): targeted / double annul.
  • Omen of Greater / Sinistral / Dextral Exaltation: next Exalt adds two mods / only a prefix / only a suffix.
  • Omen of Sinistral / Dextral Coronation (Regal) and Alchemy variants: force affix type on Regal / Alch.
  • Utility: Amelioration (75% less XP loss on death), Resurgence, Refreshment.

The tablet mod “of Omens” (Ritual Favours have +35-70% chance to be Omens) is what turns Ritual into an omen printer. Stack it, then reroll toward the omens you can sell.

The boss chain

Unspent Tribute is sacrificed toward , which reveals the Crux of Nothingness on the Atlas via the Realmgate.

  • King in the Mists: the gateway boss. Drops caster uniques and the key. Chase drops: (belt), (caster staff, Sigil of Power), From Nothing, Beetlebite, Pragmatism.
  • Rite of the Nameless: take the Head to the effigy at Caer Tarth, then choose a chain of 5 maps. Each ritual's monsters (and the map boss) reappear in the following maps, and each map awards one element of the key to the final pinnacle. Currency (Divines, at ~380 div) can appear here as a Foretold Bounty.
  • The Bodach: the final Ritual pinnacle. Each Rite map's final Ritual drops a ; place 5 in the effigy for the 3-phase darkness fight.
  • The Queen in the Mists: an optional boss unlocked by the Mysterious Rites node (8% chance for a Queen's Ritual). Drops 3 corrupted Idols (, , Sycophant).

  • Reborn in Shadow: revived monsters +40% chance to be Magic and +40% chance to be Rare (more Tribute + drops).

  • Hour of the Nameless: the Rite can rarely offer specific valuable Uniques (Mageblood-tier).

Juicing: exact tablet text

Ritual Tablets add altars; the tablet suffixes (poe2db) tune the economy. Stack the ones matching your goal:

  • of Omens: Favours +35-70% chance to be Omens. The omen-farm mod.
  • of the Cult / of the Foundling: revived monsters +25-40% Rare / +35-70% Magic (more Tribute).
  • of Sacrifice: sacrificed monsters grant +18-30% Tribute.
  • of Prayers / of the Occult: +1-3 rerolls / rerolled Favours 3-6% chance to cost no Tribute.
  • of Devotion / of the Appeal: deferring costs 20-30% less / deferred reappear 25-40% sooner.
  • Unique Freedom of Faith: reroll Favours twice as many times (Favours cost 10-15% more Tribute).

The city farm (ronarray's walkthrough)

The stable Ritual money-maker, targeting 70,000-80,000 Tribute per Rite. It runs the Rite of the Nameless (you need the ), and the edge comes from spending Tribute smartly, not just stacking tablets.

Setup
  • Master: Jado (unexpected missions + partial translations, which interacts with the tablets). Doryani is a weaker alternative.
  • Atlas: the Invigorated Sacrifices option giving revived monsters a 50% reduced Tribute penalty (max Tribute), plus Traveller's Woe.
  • Run the Rite chain, but do your first one or two maps outside the city (cheap, saves currency), then switch to City maps for the rest. Keep at least half your maps City (4 tablet slots, most profit).
Tablets (the cost trick)

The expensive piece is one “rerolling Favours 3 additional times” tablet (of Prayers, ~13-20 div). Run only one unless you are hunting Headhunter / . Fill the other slots cheap: +chance for Omens, +Tribute from sacrifices, and reduced reroll Tribute cost. Then save your good tablets for the last maps of the Rite: Tribute, rerolls and bonuses all peak on the final map, so run cheap tablets early and the reroll tablet at the end.

Waystones

Basic corrupted waystones with ~20% Pack Size and some Rarity for most maps. On the last few maps, switch to a full Pack-Size map (~44%) to maximise Tribute. T16 is not worth it except maybe those final maps.

Spending: defer to drop the price

Reroll the Favour list for the money Omens ( is ~8 div, plus Sinistral / Dextral Erasure and Annulment). Instead of buying a good Omen at full price, defer it repeatedly: each defer lowers its Tribute cost (helped by Patient Devotion), so by the high-Tribute final map you buy it cheap. Dump any leftover Tribute on a cheap Omen of Amelioration so nothing is wasted.

Defer
+ reroll aggressively
  1. Atlas: Tribute nodes + Reborn in Shadow + Patient Devotion, then the pinnacle-gated reward nodes (Spreading Darkness, Mysterious Rites) once you have killed the pinnacle.
  2. Tablets: 2-3 Ritual tablets rolled for of Omens + revived-rarity, or run 1 Ritual tablet as an amplifier on an Abyss / Breach / Delirium map. The dedicated ritual farm (ronarray, Empyriangaming) runs a City map with 4 Ritual tablets (City maps allow a 4th tablet slot) for maximum altars per map.
  3. In map: pull dense packs into the altar circle before activating. Do the altars in order so the snowball builds.
  4. At the altar: reroll toward Omens and valuable Uniques; defer anything expensive and keep 1000-1500 Tribute after your last reroll so deferred items stay reachable.
  5. Bank leftover Tribute toward when you want boss / Rite progress.
