What stays true patch to patch
6-20 lightning projectiles per cast. They ricochet off walls and linger on the ground multi-hitting anything that walks through. You don't aim, you cast toward a pack.
Scales elemental damage broadly and feeds Constant Gale, a permanent Arcane Surge. Solves the mana-sustain wall by itself.
Each point of mana boosts damage and defensive recovery. Numbers shifted (5-6 → 3 → 4%) patch to patch. Identity is permanent: more mana = more damage = more sustain.
What 0.4 changed (history)
The 0.4 patch buffs that shaped the current build. The 0.5 notes list no direct Stormweaver change, so all three still apply.

Two endgame variants
Mana-stacking. Build 3000+ max mana, socket on , every hit gets flat lightning. Eldritch Battery flips ES into a 2nd mana pool.
Stack crit chance + multi. fires on each Spark crit. Higher single-target ceiling, gear-hungry.
Both variants share the leveling tree. Start Archmage, pivot to CoC mid-endgame without rerolling.
How it plays
Hold movement, tap roughly at the next pack, keep moving. Projectiles bounce around corners and kill packs you haven't seen yet. Maps clear at running speed.
Same Spark, stationary target. Projectiles ricochet off the boss hitbox layering hits. Bosses die in 2-4 casts at mid-budget, 1 cast high-budget.
Breach start and Ritual altar opening (you get surrounded before projectiles spread). Fix: pre-fire 2 Sparks + drop an before triggering. 2 seconds of setup, problem gone.
Shock immunity (Stormweaver) + ES sustained by mana (Eldritch Battery) + enemies die before they close. T15+ killers: careless map mods, not the build.
Atlas tree and farming priorities
Quantity-over-density farmer. First 15-20 points: Constant Crossroads + Fortunate Path (Waystone sustain, non-negotiable). Then pick one league wheel and fill it.
The currency rates below were measured in 0.4. The Atlas was rebuilt in 0.5 (300+ nodes) and Breach/Delirium were reworked: re-verify routes and rates before committing.
Dense waves match Spark's lingering pattern. Most stable Divine/hour rate in 0.4 (Breach was reworked in 0.5, re-verify). Xesht stays the Breach pinnacle.
Promoted to core in 0.3. Dense pack pulls fit the spreading projectile pattern. Community “top currency per hour” pick in 0.4 (re-verify in 0.5).
8-10 Divines/hour stable solo (0.4 data). Doesn't care about clear speed, only survival. Spark trivialises both.
Map mods to dodge
Combined with fire-themed map: drops 75 → 50 effective. Ordinary mobs become oneshots. Reroll.
Bypasses shock immunity. Spark builds rarely roll chaos res. Skip.
Tuned down vs PoE 1. Survivable but your projectiles chip life and clear slows. Reroll if surplus.
Gear priorities by stage
Staff with +Spell skill levels + lightning damage. Body armour with high ES. Amulet with cast speed and a spell damage prefix. Two days of mapping.
The Everlasting Gazeamulet for “% Max Mana as Extra ES”. High % roll: 20→30 ≈ 1.5× ES. Body to high-ES rare. Belt: Midnight Braid → Ingenuity at endgame.
Perfect-rolled Archmage staff (+2 spell skills + crit) + high % Everlasting Gaze. Optional: Mahuxotl's Machination shield for endgame block. Bossing swap: wand + focus combo for +Skill stacking.
NOT standard (despite older guides): Astramentis, Original Sin, Call of the Brotherhood, Widowhail.
Drops from Breach encounters (Clasped Hands / Twisted Domain). 40-50% quality cap (vs 20% normal) = 2× catalyst effect. Rolls a caster-exclusive +X% Spell Critical Strike Chance (T12 = 4-5%) and higher tier ceilings on Cast Speed, Mana Regen, Elemental damage. Perfect for the Archmage mana scaling pattern.
Craft : Magic Breach Ring iLvl 84+ → Adaptive Catalysts to 40%+ quality → Essence start (Mana Essence for Stormweaver) → finish with Exalts. ~5-10 Divines self-craft vs 30-40 Div trade.
Notable build creators (0.4 era guides)
These guides date from the 0.4 cycle. They share the Archmage core and diverge on trigger setup. 0.5 shipped no direct Stormweaver change, so the cores still apply: check each guide for a 0.5 update before importing a tree.
Pure Spark mana-stacking. Constant Gale = permanent arcane surge. Mind Over Matter + Force of Will keystones for huge EHP and recovery scaling.
Automated Living Bomb + Elemental Equilibrium generates remnants → infusion for +200% damage. Quipolatl's Thesis via Spellslinger for infinite mana regen. Switched off Rakiata in 2026-01-20 patch update.
Same Archmage core, grafted for shock detonation. Higher single-target, lighter clear.
In 0.4, GGG buffed Stormweaver Remnants/Infusions, enabling Mana-Based CoC. Caliath's trick: low-level in CoC instead of high-level = minimal mana cost = infinite Comets sustainable on bosses. Arcane Remnants + Storm's Recollection + Refracted Infusion ↔ Living Bomb chain.
Thunderstorm primary clear + Firestorm + CoE single-target. Endgame CoC adds 3 separate skills (Spark, Arc, ) to consume excess infusions. Refracted Infusion + Living Bomb + triple-feed.
Telestomp tech : onto Ball Lightning projectiles → creates Shocked Ground at landing = all enemies in zone shocked. Freeze via //Arctic Armour → CoFreeze triggers (clear) or Ball Lightning (Telestomp enabler).
Uses Adonia's Ego Siphoning Wand + Pinnacle of Power → +ele damage per Power Charge consumed AND all spells apply any elemental ailment regardless of damage type. Stack Fire+Cold+Lightning infusions + Power Charges. AOEAH calls it “one of the strongest builds of the season”.
levels until Snakepit ring acquired → swap to (detonates on impact instead of piercing). Without Snakepit = Cast on Elemental Ailment + Snap detonator. With Snakepit = CoC variant (need 60%+ Frostbolt crit).
Triple frost-source spec: Frostbolt + Frost Bomb + Cold Snap layered. Tighter cold-only theme than the Maxroll Snakepit pivot.

Patch 0.5 status (live since 2026-05-29)
Verdict : no direct Stormweaver hit in the official notes.Ascendancy nodes, Spark, Ice Nova, Comet, and Arcane Surge are not listed in the 0.5 changes. Pre-release rumors (“16% Reduced Mana Cost removed”, “Arcane Surge nerf”) were never confirmed. The build still eats the global ES recovery nerfs that hit every caster pool: re-validate the tree and skill costs in game.
- ·ES recovery passives slashed : small nodes 15% → 6%, Rapid Recharge 25% → 12%, Patient Barrier max ES 60% → 50%. Compensate with raw max ES.
- ·ES suffixes nerfed : of Buffering 36-40% → 12-15%, of Ardour 41-45% → 16-19%, of Suffusion 46-50% → 20-23%.
- ·Faster Start of ES Recharge can no longer roll on Foci, Int body, or Jewels. Recharge Rate suffixes can now roll on Int body (new craft axis).
- ·Ghost Dance reworked : Shroud interval 7.6-6.1s → 9.3-8.1s, lose a Shroud when Hit, regen ES = 2% of Evasion Rating / sec after a Shroud is lost.
- ·Leech : 1 source per resource, 40 000 damage cap per hit. Stormweaver isn't leech-dependent so impact is minor.
- ·Atlas rebuilt with 300+ nodes : tree reset, plan a fresh pickup order.
- ·Stormweaver nodes all untouched : Refracted Infusion, Multiplying Squalls, Lord of Storms.
- ·Spark / Ice Nova / Comet base mechanics intact.
