Delirium: Emotions, Shards & Simulacrum

Delirium is the highest-skill, highest-ceiling mechanic: a fog that multiplies loot the deeper you push, feeding a whole jewel-crafting economy (Liquid Emotions) and amulet instilling. This is the full mechanic, the Emotion economy, and the Atlas subtree. All node and tablet text is poe2db-confirmed.

How Delirium works

Walk through the Delirium Mirror to release a rolling fog. Stay inside the fog as it expands or it disappears. Everything you kill raises the rewards; the deeper you go, the stronger the monsters. Magic monsters gain Delirium modifiers, and Rare / Unique monsters manifest Delirium Demons that use their own skills. A depth bar runs from the mirror (start) to the map boss (end); the fog effect points toward the boss. Map bosses in Delirium are always 100% delirious.

Risk = reward, literally
Loot scales with kills and depth, but so does danger. Delirium is a clear-speed check: slow builds get caught by the fog and the demons. If you cannot outrun the fog, farm something else first and come back geared.

Fracturing Mirrors & Shards

Fracturing Mirrors shatter when you approach, spawning Delirium monsters. At set depths, Fracturing Mirror Shards appear in three families (poe2db-confirmed):

  • Escalation Shards: add modifiers to rare Delirium monsters, summon harder and more rewarding monsters, or pause the Fog.
  • Deceptive Shards: summon Delirium bosses or open an extra Delirious sub-area, the Loathsome Mire.
  • Capricious Shards (must be unlocked on the tree): summon a mirrored Map Boss, or make Map Bosses manifest Grand Mirrors.

The Loathsome Mire drops two new Amulet base types that grant two instilled Notables at the cost of -1 suffix or -1 prefix.

Liquid Emotions (the economy)

Liquid Emotions are the exclusive Delirium currency and the reason it prints. They have two uses:

  • Instil an amulet with a Notable Passive Skill from the tree (the Decanter of Madness, the Delirium equivalent of anointing). Instilling a Notable you already allocated does not grant it twice.
  • Craft a Jewel: like a greater essence, it removes one random modifier and adds a guaranteed one to a Rare Basic Jewel. The tier scales with how delirious it makes you (Diluted Liquid Ire = 7%, up to = 50%), and the mod depends on the jewel colour (Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald / Diamond).
The high-value variants
  • Potent Emotions ( / / ): craft powerful jewel mods that do not exist in the normal pool (for example +1 allowed prefix or suffix, or +40-60% increased effect of prefixes / suffixes). Dropped by Delirium map bosses and, with the right node, unique monsters in fog.
  • Ancient Emotions: the same idea for Time-Lost Jewels (radius mods on small / notable passives). Unlocked via the Atlas tree.
  • Some Delirium uniques drop Raven-Touched, which lets them be instilled too.

For a Lich, note (Skill Mana Costs Converted to Life Cost + Spell Damage) and the max-resist / spell-crit rolls are directly build-relevant. See the jewel crafting on /crafting/reference.

Grand Mirror → Trial of Madness → Simulacrum

Killing a Delirious Map Boss can spawn a Grand Mirror on a nearby Atlas map, which duplicates the map boss. Kill both bosses to unlock the Trial of Madness: fog spreads from a map you choose (containing a locked Simulacrum), starting at 10% deliriousness. Killing Rares and Map Bosses raises the deliriousness of every map in the fog; at 100% the Simulacrum opens, and it can climb to 200%.

The is a 7-wave encounter (Kosis, The Revelation and Omniphobia are the bosses inside). Completing it gives a key to the Delirium pinnacle, The Raven Trickster (Tangmazu), via the Raven's Reflection at the Withered Willow. Difficulty-gated drops: Collapsing Horizon (2+), Strugglescream and the jewel (4).

Emotions & value
  • “I know your childhood fears...”: +25% Liquid Emotions dropped, and 20% chance for them to be Ancient Liquid Emotions.
  • “You can't scare me anymore!” (Grand Mirror): unique monsters in fog can drop Potent Emotions (5% by monster type: Humanoid → Melancholy, Beast → Ferocity, Construct → Contempt).
  • “These demons are all your own...”: Rare monsters always manifest Delirium Demons (more rewards).
Fog control & shards
  • “You can't just wake up from this one.”: fog dissipates 30% slower; Simulacrums spawn a Shard between waves (Escalating Threats / Apex Predators / Pure Emotions).
  • “The mirrors... the mirrors!”: +50% Fracturing Mirrors. “Come on! Face me!”: +25% Unique Boss Shards, slaying Uniques pauses the timer 10s.
  • “Get out of my head!”: Magic monsters in fog 25% chance for an extra Delirium modifier.
Grand Mirror & Simulacrum
  • Grand Mirror Chance: +5% chance for a Grand Mirror when a boss is slain in fog (small nodes ×16).
  • “Are you sure you want to do that?” (Grand Mirror): areas with Grand Mirrors also get a Delirium Mirror.
  • Recurring Nightmares (pinnacle): control how fog spreads from Grand Mirrors (up to +4 maps).
  • “Is this about me... or you?” (Simulacrum): drop from Delirium monsters in level 75+ maps; jewels 10% chance to allocate 3 notables.

Juicing: exact tablet text

Delirium Tablets add a Mirror; the suffixes (poe2db) extend the fog and reward window. Their effect scales with the number used (full at 3):

  • of Madness: +15-30% Deliriousness (more reward, more danger). of Persecution: Delirium monsters +15-30% Pack Size.
  • of Eternity / of the Unending: fog lasts +6-12s / dissipates 20-30% slower (more time in fog).
  • of Mirrors / of Shattering: +15-30% Fracturing Mirrors / +12-26% Mirror Shards.
  • of Phobia: encounters +15-30% likely to spawn Unique Bosses. of Freeze Time: slaying Rares pauses the timer 3-5s.
  • Unique : fog never dissipates (with -10 to +10% Deliriousness). The dedicated Delirium farming tablet.

The 200% Delirium splinter farm

A Simulacrum-splinter and raw-currency farm that two creators cover in detail (ronarray and DEADRABB1T). ronarray reports ~80-100 div/hr; DEADRABB1T logged 90 divines of Simulacrums over 15 maps (about 60 profit after ~5-div tablets) on top of ~2-3 raw divines per map. You mostly drop raw divines and Simulacrums, which sell instantly.

Build the 200% fog first

You need a City biome (they usually sit next to Citadels). Run basic maps with a basic Delirium tablet until a Grand Mirror spawns on a nearby map. Clear that map, kill its boss, then click the Grand Mirror to choose which Atlas area gets the Delirium fog, and point it at your city cluster. Clear a few maps around the city (not the city itself) to raise it from 10% to 200%. Only then slot your proper tablets and farm the City maps (4 slots) at 200% delirious.

Setup
  • Master: Jado (unexpected missions, so corrupt your waystones for +1 modifier; partial translations).
  • Atlas: biome masteries for your city biomes (Desert / Grass for Effectiveness, Forest for more rares), the Delirium tablet-bonus nodes, and the fog-spreads-to-+4-maps node. Take Effectiveness over 6% Pack Size.
  • Tablets: the three modifiers that matter are increased Fracturing Mirrors, Simulacrum Splinter stack size and increased Rare Monsters (rares drop the splinters). A tablet with all three runs ~20 div; a cheaper single-good-mod tablet is ~1-5 div and still works, since Rare Monsters can come from the waystone instead.
Waystone (the 5-mod craft)

Aim for high Monster Rarity: more rares means more splinters, which means more Simulacrums. To fit three Omens on one map, roll a waystone to exactly five modifiers (Orb of Alchemy to 4, then one to 5, keeping a slot open), then use Chaotic Effectiveness + Chaotic Rarity + Chaotic Quantity together (a full 6-mod waystone blocks them). Finish with a and Vaal-corrupt it: corrupting is mandatory here because your tree runs Shadow of Undeath, which multiplies the loot. A good result is ~62% Monster Rarity and ~26% Pack Size. The bulk method (DEADRABB1T): Exalt and corrupt a whole batch of waystones, then paste a “Monster Rarity at least 60%” regex into your map-stash search to pull out the good ones.

Run it

Clear every monster: all of them drop . A fast build does a map in 5-8 minutes (~10 maps/hr). A fully juiced 200% map yields 500-1000 splinters plus 1-2 raw divines; a lighter setup gives 100-300. Either sell the Simulacrums (currently ~2.7 div each) or run them yourself, and keep any jewels (a lasting chase item, ~700 div).
